Joseph Rivera's Short Story Proposal

Exposition:
Through the power of radio, Peggy Stalin Larcock managed to take over Albany, California in 1985 and turn it into an absolute monarchy called the New Regime. Larcock’s society consisted of three estates: First (clergy), Second (nobility), and Third (everybody else). In order to make sure that there was tranquility within each estate, Larcock appointed generals Jimmy Jin, Chris Shi, and Jeffrey Zhang to the First, Second, and Third Estates, respectively. Under Larcock’s rule, the three estates lived in peace and harmony for ten years, until the beautiful monarch fell down a hole, causing her to resemble a hideously foul beast whose appearance can’t even be described with mere words.
Inciting Incident:
Ever since that horrible incident, people from the different estates have been mysteriously disappearing. Each estate blamed one another for the disappearance of their members. This feud continued on for two years, causing mini civil wars to occur. The fighting ceased when a messenger from the First Estate announced that their estate’s general, Jimmy was kidnapped by Larcock’s personal administrators. Chris and Jeffrey were especially outraged by the news considering that the person they were in love with was kidnapped.  Realizing that Larcock was the one responsible for the abductions, the estates banded together to form the Bourgeoisie Estate (led by Chris and Jeffrey) and sought out to free Jimmy and the others who were taken by Larcock.
Rising Action:
The Bourgeoisie Estate journeyed to the heart of Albany, where Larcock’s massive stronghold, Fort Purple Passion, was located. This great fortress had eight floors and the only way to get to Larcock’s throne room at the peak was by defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends. The Bourgeoisie Estate entered the fort and successfully defeated all seven evil ex-boyfriends (to be named later) and their minions. The fight against the boyfriends took a massive toll on the Bourgeoisie. The only ones alive were Chris, Jeffrey, and three estate members. With all the boyfriends and minions gone, there was no one else to protect Larcock from the wrath of the Bourgeoisie.
Climax:
When the group arrived at Larcock’s throne room, they recognized Jimmy, cowering in the corner like a frightened puppy. They were glad that he was still alive because that meant that their journey wasn't for naught. Unfortunately, the other people who were kidnapped were already dead; their corpses were piled up next to Jimmy. The five heroes armed themselves with Bunsen burners, ring stands, and pipettes, getting ready to engage in a brawl of epic proportions. Larcock managed to overpower the group by shooting her great balls of fire desire and firing her tardy slip machine gun. Two estate members were roasted to death by Larcock's balls of fire while the third bled to death because of the sharp-edged tardy slips. As a last resort, Chris and Jeffrey started to tell Larcock about how she was a great teacher. She became distracted by their kind words which gave Chris enough time to quickly push her out of the window and fall to her doom. The impact was so devastating, that it caused the Earth's major tectonic plates to shift.
Falling Action:
Jimmy was freed and the hated monarch was gone forever. Staying at Fort Purple Passion helped Jimmy obtain crucial information about Larcock’s plans, which he shared with the heroes. Larcock’s plan was to achieve absolute beauty through the use of the Sorcerer’s Stones, mystical objects that were crafted by compressing the souls of helpless virgins through the use of witchcraft and wizardry. The incident that disfigured Larcock in 1995 caused her to frantically search for a way to restore her beauty. She eventually came across stories about the Sorcerer’s Stone and began collecting virgins to make herself beautiful again.
Resolution:
Even though the Bourgeoisie Estate achieved their goal in rescuing Jimmy from the evil Larcock, another problem arose. The two heroes were both madly in love with Jimmy (Jimmy hated them). The heroes began to quarrel about who gets to be Jimmy’s boyfriend. However, right before another epic battle was about to ensue, Morgan Freeman comes down from the heavens for a deus ex machina.

  1. Fantastic and hilarious setup. I can imagine myself laughing through the whole reading process. Definitely gonna follow this story.

Because the story is going to be great, I think you might want to change the name just a little more so that the character is not so obvious but still recognizable to those of us who...suffered.

I'd agree with Lynn about changing the name.

  4. I like the plot, it was funny, and I could relate to the characters (in dealing with "Carlos"). You could try to develop each of the characters more in the real story.

  5. This is so cruel, but really funny, I like it. You definitely need to change the name, though.
